Taraba State Shines as a Regional and Global Investment Destination: WATB President Visits Jalingo
This week, Southgerian Lifestyle Magazine spotlights Taraba State as an emerging powerhouse on Nigeria’s investment map following the official visit of Ambassador Moleboheng Matli, President of the Women African Tourism Board (WATB). The visit coincided with Taraba’s 2025 TARAVEST platform, a strategic showcase positioning the state as an investor-ready, globally competitive economy.
Amb. Matli was received at Jalingo Airport by the Honourable Commissioner for Heritage and Ecotourism, Rev. Joseph Titus Nagombe, on behalf of the state government. The warm and official reception reflected the state’s commitment to high-level engagement and collaboration with global investment and tourism partners.
During her visit, Amb. Matli held a series of strategic engagements with multiple wings of the Taraba State Government. A priority meeting with Chief Gebon Kataps, Secretary to the Government, provided invaluable insights into the state’s investment value proposition. Chief Kataps emphasised the state’s robust infrastructure, transparent governance framework, and readiness to welcome both regional and international investors.
The highlight of the visit was the official meeting between WATB President Amb. Moleboheng Matli and His Excellency Dr. Agbu Kefas, Executive Governor of Taraba State. Discussions focused on advancing strategic collaboration, accelerating investment, and leveraging TARAVEST as a vehicle to attract global interest across sectors including tourism, agribusiness, and industrial development. Governor Kefas reaffirmed the state’s commitment to positioning Taraba as a key economic hub within the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) framework, signalling a governance approach that is both visionary and execution-oriented.
Reflecting on the visit, Amb. Matli said:
“I commit to working with Taraba State to adamant its undeniable relevance as a multi-economic hub with diversified sector opportunities, positioning it to become one of the leading states across West Africa.”
TARAVEST, the state’s flagship investment platform, continues to strengthen Taraba’s narrative as a competitive, investor-ready state. It serves not only as a showcase for the state’s natural and cultural assets but also as a practical vehicle for fostering public-private partnerships and diaspora engagement.
Southgerian Lifestyle notes that the visit was a major win for WATB, reinforcing its mandate to connect African regions with global investors, stimulate sustainable tourism, and create measurable socio-economic impact. For Taraba, the visit underscored the state’s readiness to deliver on its investment promises and highlighted its leadership’s strategic vision for long-term economic transformation.
As Nigeria’s economic landscape evolves, Taraba State stands out as a model of opportunity, governance, and investor confidence — a state not just open for business, but ready to lead on the continental stage.
